MOVE

The Musicians and Organizers Volunteer Exchange (MOVE) is an exchange and volunteer program between the musical organizations JMNorway, Trøndertun Folk High School, Music Crossroads Malawi, Music Crossroads Mozambique and Sustenidos. Since 2015, Move is held in Brazil. Projeto Guri former students and teachers, between 18 to 25 years old, can participate.

Currently six young Brazilians are elected in a rigorous selection process to spend a ten-month season in the other participating countries: Norway, Malawi and Mozambique – two young people are sent to each place.

During the journey, they perform at festivals, competitions and trainings. Move is the result of a partnership between Sustenidos and Jeunesses Musicales International (JMI), a Belgian-based institution that promotes musical programs in about 70 countries. The action is funded by Norec – the Norwegian agency for cooperation in exchanges, and the aim is to develop new skills and cultural interpretations, expanding and enriching not only young musicians, but the communities in which they develop projects and activities.

Upon returning from immersion abroad, the Brazilian participants have the mission to share what they learned with the Projeto Guri community, using workshops and musical activities.

Through their own projects and with the support of the Sustenidos teams, young people delight everyone with the musical and cultural innovations they bring in their luggage.
